The big fire that never happened

A fire has disastrous consequences and confronts us with the fragility of our cultural heritage. At the same time a catastrophe is also an opportunity to start something new.

It’s a horrifying thought, but what if Saint Nicholas church were on fire? In 2011 the artist already confronted many citizens of Ghent with the illusion of a fire in the Belfry, this time another iconic tower goes up in flames.
