Where does humanity end and technology begin? The borders between the physical and digital world are becoming blurred.
Urbanisation and globalisation are forcing us to adopt a different approach to our environment. Our living spaces are getting smaller and smaller as the importance of our digital identity is growing. Never before have people all over the world been as closely connected by technology as they are today! In 2016, Willem Mertens won the video mapping competition at Bring Your Own Beamer, which earned him a place at the Light Festival. In ctrl+alt+esc, he experiments with light and backlight in a combination of modern dance, theatre and animation.
