The surprising patterns that run through the 15 illuminated spheres is a physical phenomenon. After letting go, it is only gravity that you see at work.
Because the lengths of the pendulums are chosen very precisely, this amazing spectacle of line patterns alternating with chaotic seeming movements is created.
